Reading Fun

Mimi is busy teaching Ian to read! He is so excited since he can now read three chapters in a "big kid" book. Chapter one goes something like this:
Red
Come Red.
Come Come.
Come here.
Come Nancy.
Come Susan.
Come here.
Come here Nancy.
Come here Susan.
Come here Red.
Chapter two goes something like this:
Bill
Come here Bill.
Come, come.
Here Bill.
Here Susan.
Go Nancy.
Go Susan.
Go. Go.
Stop Nancy.
Stop Susan.
Stop. Stop.
It's been pretty darn fun and we aren't ever going to stop reading now!

The Big 05

It finally came! Ian's birthday! The big 05. He was so excited. It started with breakfast in bed.
Then we spent the afternoon playing in the snow. It's true, Ian's sled is a silver bowl! Fun stuff.
After a pizza dinner, the party started. Ian led everyone in singing Happy Birthday. He also decorated his own cake. (He's returned to his pj top, but if you look closely, he's wearing suit pants. He wore his suit the entire day, because it was a special, very special, occasion.)
The gifts were a hit, especially the spin art kit. Always an artist first, this was his favorite gift. He also got a new shirt, a couple of games, a volcano building kit, a Curious George book and Bull Dog from the Super Dog series. We had to try the spin art kit right away!!!!
Before bed we filled our shoes with hay and left them on the porch in hopes that the three kings would pass by and leave us gifts. (They did!) Ian used his slippers, because those are the biggest shoes he has!
For my part, I can hardly believe that he his five. It's okay though, the day he turned five he started talking about being six!

Happy New Year 2007
We had a great celebration running up to Ian's friend Kellee's house every hour leaving a "New Year's" treat on the door along with a note informing her where it was midnight: Rio de Janiero, Santiago Chile, San Juan Puerto, Rico, Boston....etc. Ian only made it until 10:00 before he fell into a sound sleep. (I followed shortly there after.) The next morning, he was thrilled to find a note informing us that midnight did actually occur in Utah....along with a pile of candy. Before we went to bed, we made a toast to the new year. As seen in foto #1. Ian wanted to toast in the new year another way; which you can see in foto #2. Have a great year!

¡Prospero Ano a Todos!
