Zissst

abby. she is my girlfriend. she thinks i'm annoying when i do this...zissst. i zissst abby every day. abby has a friend that's named taylor. taylor wants to know why i zissst abby. it's because i like her. abby is one seat away from me. there is somebody that is in my class that is between me and abby. every day i walk past her i zissst her. sometimes she zissts me back. i mostly always zissst her. when i stand in line i mostly stand in line by abby. sometimes i am in the back of the line because i'm the power saver and abby is the line leader. the power saver is always in the back of the line. when we go to sit on our square i always crawl over to her square until she comes and then i zissst her. and she always doesn't like when i zissst her. zisssting abby is fun. i never can get by abby when taylor is. taylor is abby's best friend too. Zissst means: i like you.
bye. -ian

Meet the Teacher Day

Ian and I went in to meet his teacher today. School officially starts for him on September 6th. We filled out a typical questionnaire. It went something like this:
(Ian's answers are in red, my thoughts in purple)

Name: Ian Whitfield Johnson That is a nice, solid, manly name. Good job, Mom.
Birthday: January 5, 2002 What a horrible date. Can it be any closer to Christmas?
People in your Family: Mom and Me Ya, too bad there isn't a good looking Dad in the house that likes to mow the lawn and rub my back.
Favorite Food: Chicken Noodle Soup Are you kidding me? The last three times I've made chicken noodle soup, you wouldn't even eat one bite.
Favorite Color: Aquamarine.....no wait, put blue. Blue? Blue? What happened to red?
Favorite School Subject: Math Math huh? Weird. Well, that's good. I'm glad you like math since I won't be able to help you do it after the 1st grade.
Favorite sport: Soccer Ohhh yaaaa. That's my boy.
Favorite book: SuperFudge Wow. Good thing I read ahead and censored some of that book. If the news broke out about the big guy in red....I don't think it would be a favorite.
Favorite T.V. show: Hum. Let me think about that. Let's put, "I hate T.V.! T.V. is for dummies." No Mom.
What do you like to do: Ride bikes, swim, read. That's all you like to do? Well, at least you didn't say "watch T.V."
What you want to be when you grow up: An Artist That's funny. Last time we filled one of these out you wanted to be a lifeguard.

So now you know Ian.... and me, a little better. Fun Stuff!!!!

My Vacaction in SALT LAKE CITY!!!!

We had a fun vacation in Salt Lake City. We stayed with Aunt Kaila over night. We went out to dinner with Sophie and then Ian played in the fountain. We watched a movie at Kaila's house and ate lots of popcorn. In the morning we went to the zoo. We needed some good luck from the white alligator. (You can see his blue eye glowing in the picture....if you look close enough.) Ian attributes all the good luck he's had this summer to the "Ghost of the Bayou"! Then we went out to lunch with Kaila and then to the movies. We already decided that next year we would stay longer. Thanks Kai, for letting us come!

Camping!

We went camping last weekend. Ian had a good time playing in the river, sleeping in a tent, hiking and eating burned marshmellows. You know, the usual camp fun!

Pioneer Day

Ian asked me why we never do fireworks. Good question. "Call your Uncle Whit." Was my response. Whit thought fireworks sounded like a great idea! Ian was thrilled!!! It was so exciting to hold the flashlight while Whit lit the firework...and then to run! After the "show", Ian couldn't sleep. Whit promised him he could light the snakes the next morning. Thanks Uncle Whit! You are the best.

Ian estaba super animado a ayudarle. Fue super emocionante todo. Nunca hemos hecho eso antes. Fue una experiencia bien buena.

Roasting Marshmellows

The other night I found Ian and his friend Kelle roasting marshmellows over a very small fire in the gutter. (They were being supervised by Kelle's much older brother; he just didn't want to be in the picture.) Ian loves Kelle because she is a real tomboy! As we walked home, Ian mentioned he was going to light a fire of his own. I said, "You can't light a fire until you are 16!" "AHH MOM!" He protested. Maybe 16 is a stretch, but at least the topic is dropped for now....and the matches are well hidden!

Independence Day Swim

There's nothing better than a refreshing swim after marching in the the 4th of July Parade!

Art or Science?

I'm not sure what I found more impressive the art or the science. Mimi was watching Ian last week while I was at work and got out the play dough for him. He created the life cycle of a frog. You'll note it starts at egg and moves through to the frog. We hadn't been talking about it or anything. I loved his sculptures, but I was more surprised that he knew the life cycle of a frog.

T-Ball

Ian played his first T-ball game last night. He got three good hits and had a lot of fun. Of course, the best part was flirting with the enemy, Jordan from his preschool class. Who after the game informed me that, "We could call him her boyfriend." Fabulous.

Fabuloso. Hola Cara chica.

FISH!!!

We have pets. No, hell didn't freeze over. Dayna offered this fish tank to us, and I decided it was time. Thanks to Spencer who dropped it off last night. Ian has chosen the 5 fish he will keep as his pets. He named them: Orangey, Reddy, Spot, Goldilocks, and Kurt. It was an exciting night at our house. The fish moved into their new room, right next to Ian's bed. He has decided he must sleep in his bed now because he's the fishes "big brother" and must take care of them. Maybe they will be good for something?
¿Cierto?

Payasito

Sometimes Ian is a clown.....literally.

A veces Ian es un payaso.....literalmente.

Ian Meets Oslo-----Finally!

Ian was excited to meet Oslo for the first time. Isn't he cute? Ian is a great cousin. He helped Oslo out by running his legs for a little exercise and he by holding him carefully. He asked Pepper if he could hold him standing up. That hasn't happened yet, but a guy can always hope.
Mr. Oslo
Olso getting some exercise.
Two cute cousins meet in Monterey!
(Ian con su primo nuevo, Oslo)

The Tide Pools in Monterey

One of Ian's favorite things to do is look for "treasures" at the tide pools. Ian found a shell he just had to have and found away to get it.
